Current Art Exhibit at the Bamboo Grove: Photographs by Liang Liang, Paintings/Stencils by Wellen Glenn, and Etchings by Megan Stumpfig!

We have three young, brilliant artists currently showing at the Bamboo Grove! Their work is very distinctive from one another, but they work well to compliment each other.

Liang Liang is a photographer, born in China and living in Oregon. She has 95 photographs exhibited at the Grove, displaying moments taken in New York, Portland, China, and San Francisco over the course of 2011. More of her work and her business can be seen here.

Wellen Glenn has several pieces showing at the Grove, all stenciled and painted in multicolors.

Megan Stumpfig is a 23 year-old artist, studying art at Portland State University. The pieces she has exhibited here are primarily etchings. To see more of her work, click here.

Come down to the Bamboo Grove to see their art! It is only up until the end of the month, because we have a new series of artists who will be here on the First Friday event.

And a Seven-Room Clinic for Alternative Medicine!

Also new at the Bamboo Grove is a cloth, seven-room clinic to be used for various forms of alternative medicine!

It's available to be rented out, and can be set up and taken down with ease. If you offer acupuncture, meditation, aroma therapy, massage, herbalism, chiropractic, naturopathy, homeopathy, whatever may work in our seven-room clinic...please give us a call to ask about renting out the space for your practice.

Check out our clinic page on the website here for more information!

Starting the Summer with New Things...like an Apothecary, for example.

It's been a really, really long time since that last post...but that's because we've been so busy starting up plenty of new things for the Bamboo Grove!

Our teahouse is now an apothecary. We carry over 75 different Chinese herbs and teas, and we can fill your Chinese herb formula for you in the house. We can then boil it and jar it for your future use, or you can sit back in the teahouse and enjoy it here!

The use of Chinese medicine and apothecary to heal various ailments dates back a long time. It is a good alternative to modern medicine, or indeed a good complimentary practice. Even if you just have a headache that won't go away, swing by and see what we can do for you.

Check out the Apothecary page on our website here.

Current Art Exhibit at the Bamboo Grove: Sanna-Lisa Gesang-Gottowt

Sanna-Lisa Gesang-Gottowt grew up in a commune outside of Stockholm, Sweden, in a very creative and politically aware environment. In 2003, Gesang-Gottowt moved to Portland, Oregon, where she studied art at Marylhurst University. In 2009, she completed the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. This is her third solo-show since graduating; her work has also been included in group shows at Blackfish Gallery, GalleryHomeland and Worksound. Her thesis was a combination of photography, painting, sculpture and installation that used imagery of, among other objects, walls and fences to explore connections between the personal and up close with world politics. The paintings in the current exhibition are a continuation of this exploration of signs of inclusion, exclusion, belonging and the idea of identity that can come with it.

Come by the Bamboo Grove Salon soon, SE Taylor and 2nd Ave, to catch her work before it leaves!
